Case.net is still showing a Monday, March 9 court date in Cole County Circuit Court for MEC v. Lou Hamilton (08AC-AC02155), relating to lobbyist reporting. Hamilton was formerly the senior partner at Vigilant Communications. He is now at Centrex Strategies. He is also chairman of the St. Louis Metropolitan Taxicab Commission, and former chairman of the Missouri Tourism Commission.
According to the petition dated 2008 Dec 9, Hamilton filed his 2008 Jan lobbyist expenditure report four days late. MEC assessed late fees of $10 a day, $40 total. 2008 Feb 20, MEC ordered him to pay up, which he didn't do. It looks like he wasn't a registered lobbyist from 2007 Dec 31 to 2008 Jan 9. The filing fee in the Associate Division which the petition was filed is $52.
Hamilton's current registration indicates he only lobbies local government officials for himself. Some of his past clients include Anheuser-Busch, AT&T, Bi-State Development/Metro, BJC Healthcare, The Cardinals, Quick Trip.
Fun Fact: Cole County Circuit Court has major 2008 Decisions on-line, a very cool feature. Some of the cases featured include James Trout v. Missouri Ethics Commission (the decision which struck down the prohibition on fundraising during the legislative session), State of Missouri v. Governor Matt Blunt (the email case), and St. Louis Board of Education v. Missouri Board of Education (relating to the state takeover of the schools via the Special Advisory Board, Transitional School District).

Thanks for the heads up - it was a bit of a surprise, though, since I thought we had paid this late fee months ago. We havent gotten any notices from MEC other than the monthly report reminders that get sent automatically, so never gave it a thought. Just called to confirm the information and get the instructions on where to send the $40 late fee.
Thanks for the sleuthing, otherwise I wouldnt have had any idea.
Lou
Dave failed to mention that casenet info for 08AC-AC02155 says Louis Hamilton was personally served a summons at 906 Olive #225 on 12-16-2008 by a deputy sheriff.
Cousin Blanche could have been an ambassador were it not for slavery down south, way down south.
