Colleen Bridges has a Yard Sign Alert on her website. She also sent a note to her email list with more details:
"Ari's business signs disappeared after being posted for only a couple of days. During that time, the owner received phone calls to his business and his home from some man identifying himself as a commissioner and stating that business would suffer if he continued to display my signs. Tim is a greek (sic) immigrant and felt very threatened by the calls."
"Two other individuals who displayed signs reported being contacted immediately following display and were told they were in opposition of all unions. Those supporters were not intimidated and continue to show their support."
She has a Local Businesses page that may fall into the category of too much information - where she gets her poodle groomed and where she recommends you go for manicures, pedicures, and waxing.
Bridges and Doug Dick are using the same website template and did not report any expenditures for their sites.
Bridges says she will continue working part-time at St. Stephen Protomartyr Elementary but be a full-time alderman. Dick says he is retired and will be a full-time alderman. They're the only candidates in the race to bring up the full-time alderman issue.
Dick's website notes his serving as president of Lindenwood Neighborhood Association for seven years and on the board and as an officer for Linden Heights Housing Corporation. LHHC's filings with SOS show that Woody Lange, also a candidate for 23rd Ward alderman, was president of the nonprofit when it lost its charter for failure to file an annual report with SOS, and that it was Dick who saw to the reinstatement. LNA filings show that Dick was president when that group lost its charter and had it reinstated.
Current LHHC board member Walter Able was reimbursed for supplies in a Vacccaro report. Board member Michael Konroy is treasurer for outgoing Alderwoman Kathy Hanrahan's campaign committee. Board member Dan Hagerty, husband of briefly 23rd Ward Committeewoman Gina Hagerty and president of the Tilles Park Neighborhood Association, has close ties to the 23rd Ward Regular Democratic Organization, which has endorsed Vaccaro. The fourth member and president, Martin Fischer, hasn't shown up in anyone's report or on anyone's website.
Dick's campaign is the first in the 23rd Ward race, possibly the first among City candidates this election season, to use the City Seal.
Vaccaro's website, which is not easy on the eyes, has not been updated to show the new treasurer, Bob Rice, on the "Paid for by" disclaimer. His Links include Fox 2 and the online Suburban Journal subscription form, no other news-related links.
At the bottom of his pages, you'll find link: Web site designed & hosted by David Kavanaugh - D&K Dynamics. A SOS search for a corporation or fictitious name registration for D&K Dynamics, using "D&K", "D & K", "D and K", "DK", and scrolling through all the hits for "Dynamics", did not produce any matching results for the name. Vaccaro's Jan. and 40 Days Out reports show that Kavanaugh, 5241 Sutherland Apt A, 63109 has been paid a total of $300 for web services. According to City records, that address is a two family unit.
Vaccaro's endorsements page shows support from 12th Ward Committeeman and Sheriff James Murphy, former 108th Dist. State Rep. Tom Villa, former 9th Ward Alderman Martie Aboussie (misidentified as 108th District Retired Alderman), and former License Collector Tom Nash. The list includes 23rd Ward Organization (missing "Democratic" let alone "Regular Democratic") but missing are the names of the 23rd Ward's elected officials: Committeeman Francis R. Slay, Committeewoman and Recorder of Deeds Sharon Carpenter, Public Administrator Gerry Nester, and outgoing Alderwoman Kathy Hanrahan. Also not on the list is 8th Ward Committeeman John Stelzer, who gave him a total of $250.
Judi Roman's endorsements page shows backing from Nancy Farmer (former State Rep., former State Treasurer, former U.S. Senate candidate), former Board President Jim Shrewsbury, 64th Dist. State Rep. Rachel Storch (represents one precinct in the ward), 67th Dist.
State Rep. Mike Colona (represents one precinct in the ward), 24th Ward Alderman Bill Waterhouse; 24th Ward Committeewoman Marie Waterhouse, and 24th Ward Committeeman John Corbett.
Missing from Roman's list is former Mayor Clarence Harmon. She ran the campaign that got him elected. The 1997 mayoral primary was one of those rare times the 23rd Ward leadership was not unified behind a candidate. The elder Slay endorsed the re-election of Mayor Freeman Bosley Jr. and Carpenter endorsed challenger Harmon, with Slay getting custody of the ward organization's name for the primary.
Her website says it was designed by Miller Strategies, same County address as Roman's political consulting business, a fictitious name registration by Chuck Miller, the former 24th Ward Committeeman who resigned because he was working in Vietnam. Neither of her reports shows any web-related expenses or in-kind donation of services. It's possible she has not yet received a bill.
Roman has Political Media links to ACC, Political Fix, PubDef, Suburban Journal.
Mary Homan is hoping to raise money from her St. Louis American endorsement. Her website says it was designed by Indelicato PC LLC, which does not show up in SOS database. Her report shows a $400 payment to Joe Indelicato, 5400 Arsenal, 63139 for web services. That's the address for Missouri Institute for Mental Health located in the Dome Buildingat St. Louis Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center. Homan works for MIMH's Evaluation, Policy & Ethics Division. SOS does have a filing for Joe M. Indelicato LLC at a County address.
Candidates Lange and Kevin Toal have filed Exemption Statements, do not plan on raising/spending money, and do not have websites.
Lindenwood Neighborhood Association and Watson Business District are co-hosting a candidates forum 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12 at Southwest Baptist Church, Scanlan @ Watson. The church's pastor, Rudy Pulido, is also known for his many years with Americans United for Separation of Church and State, previously serving on its national board.
