Every legislative session seems to script its own catch-phrases… “skin in the game” and “Gucci suits and alligator shoes” were tossed around last session. The early front-runner for this session’s catch-phrase is “game-changer.”
Three Game-Changers I've heard lately:
The fair-taxers want to scrap the state's income tac and go to a higher and wider sales tax instead.
Critics raise lots of questions about implementation. And realists are pretty certain that Sen. Joan Bray and Sisters won’t let it out of the Senate.
Still supporters insist that it could be an economic game-changer. It’s the one bold stroke that would put Missouri on the map for companies looking to relocate to hospitable tax environments.
The brewing scandal in the House is still the first question practically everyone asks me about when I walk the halls. I know nothing. Except that Dems are staring down the barrel of a Republican year and their only hope is a game-changer. They’re crossing both their fingers (and toes) that Don Lograsso goes down and names others and transforms a strong Republican year into a Democratic year. Presto.
It threatens to hide her green ear-rings and makes her serial scarf wearing a vestige of the past. But it also made Sen. John Griesheimer seem spell-bound on the Senate floor, like a kitten chasing a ball of yarn. Sen. Jane’s new haircut is a game-changer.
