By a vote of 38-4.
Shrewsbury should get the endorsement of the 24th Ward. That ward is not going to endorse no black man married to a white woman, running against a white man married to a white woman. Lewis Reed would have needed to be running against another black man married to a black woman to receive that endorsement. Then his wife being white would have carried him through, but not in this case. The 24th Ward is white until the end of time, and will vote whitest until the end of time.
St. Louis white people vote for the most white candidate, and St. Louis black people will leave a black candidate out in the cold because he/she is married to a white woman/man and talk about his/her black a$$ for being married to a white woman. The funny thing is that white people will do the same, unless the other black candidate is married to a black woman/man.
When will black people practice the same politics, go as black as you can and don't split the vote.

Posted by mary beth on Thu., Jan 25, 2007 at 11:17 AM"Whitest until the end of time" thats classy baby, real classy. I think that should be our wards new slogan in fact!! Better yet why not invite the Klan and the Brotherhood in to help keep it white!! That way we can guarentee st.louis being the most racially divided city in the US
Give me f****** break
Posted by joshua Wiese on Thu., Jan 25, 2007 at 12:52 PMHonestly it was pretty white in there last night, Josh. But I still felt safe ;) Oh, and the snacks were great!
Here's a tip: if you guys want more black folks or even young folks at your meetings, let it be known that there's free beer and food. You can expect to see me again next month!
Posted by Antonio French on Thu., Jan 25, 2007 at 1:01 PMAntonio- dont you mean that the meeting was the "whitest until the end of time?"
Are you trying to say that us white folks dont like free food and beer? Thats just the typical racist attitude of the african american community right there. Next thing you know you'll say that we cant dance and that we should stop rapping.
* Please note the sarcasm-thank you
Posted by joshua Wiese on Thu., Jan 25, 2007 at 1:26 PMJosh if you would invite Bauer and his friends back it would make for one klantastic meeting. And I think putting free food and beer on the flyer right next to the correct address would be a great way to get the youth involved.
Posted by 24th Watcher on Thu., Jan 25, 2007 at 1:50 PMWow , I am just astounished. That the first post would speak to such racsist attitudes here in this great city, without having anything remotely to due with the possible and actual reasons Mr. Shrewsbury was endorsed. Then we see some of St. Louis' so called top political insiders and talking heads snip at about getting OUR young people drunk and "INVOLVED". WOW!
We will see the end of divisive politics when he engage such absurd over simplifications with real discussion and logic. I also agree> nicely done Urban
