CNN is running a video story about Baton Bob. Its actually quite long. I have been asked a million times why urban professionals would stay in St. Louis, now I guess Bob can ask that question to other street entertainers in our city. Twirl on, Bob, twirl on.
I miss Baton Bob!
Posted by Urban Review on Tue., Jan 9, 2007 at 2:35 PMWhile for the most part I enjoyed his presence on the St. Louis scene (he made me look a little less odd, thanks Bob), I did personally witness his totally unprovoked tirade that was chronicled in the RFT and from then on he lost me as a fan. He was not only vulgar (which, hey, I generally like) but he was mean and nasty. And while I understand his frustration with the "progressiveness" of this city he had obviously lost his sense of "mirth" and it was time to move on.
Posted by Dustin on Tue., Jan 9, 2007 at 3:25 PMYeah, I'd see him a lot when headed downtown through the central west end and he always made me smile--sometimes laugh (particularly on those days he dressed as a bride). But then I began hearing stories about him launching unprovoked verbal attacks at people. Instead of delighting people, he started to scare them.
I never saw it myself but I guess it was time for him to move on.
