What was this list, if there wasn't enough money to cover everyone how does the ward know who joined???
Sounds like somebody got caught with their hand in the cookie jar and is trying to scream her way out of a punishment.
Posted by amused on Mon., Dec 18, 2006 at 11:08 AMSounds like the old ward machine is up to its old tricks and doing everything it can to make sure a progressive, young woman is not elected.
Posted by Not Amused on Mon., Dec 18, 2006 at 12:30 PMI'm not sure what is going on, but do all wards allow people to drop off lists and a check? Is this standard or unusal? I am skeptical, I can't bring my own deck of cards to the casino, and maybe this is a usual thing but it seems fishy, why couldn't all these people just join the organization and send in their own dues?
Posted by not sure on Mon., Dec 18, 2006 at 1:04 PMTight organizations run tight ships. The Starr team indicates that. Triplett knocked on my door over three months ago, and asked me if I would be interested in becoming a member. I agreed. If anything, Triplett and her team indicate that they are organized and up to speed on how the system works.
Posted by Shayla on Mon., Dec 18, 2006 at 1:20 PMI think I know what is going on, but do most ward associations usually try to limit and decrease their memberships? This IS pretty unstandard and unusual.
A Committeman trying to decrease the the number of people participating in the political process and the future of their community? Makes one skeptical of how Patrick might deal with citizen input if he ever made it to City Hall.
Posted by Not Impressed on Mon., Dec 18, 2006 at 1:57 PMI belong to a different ward organization, and a person has to attend so many meetings a year to be a voting member. We have this rule to keep candidates like Kacie from gaming the organization by having a large group of people show up just to win a vote.
Posted by non-sixth warder on Mon., Dec 18, 2006 at 2:12 PMGosh! Sounds like a great idea! I wonder if the 6th Ward organization has a rule like this in its bylaws- maybe we should look it up.
Oh yeah... can't really do that.
Man, I sure hope Patrick can bring the same thoroughness and competence to City Hall that he's demonstrated as a Committeman.
Posted by Not Impressed on Mon., Dec 18, 2006 at 2:46 PMShe is the VP of the organization, looks like you should watch where you point your fingers, the proper direction might be yourself. But I guess we should give her a break, she is just a kid.
Posted by NotImpressed with Kacie on Mon., Dec 18, 2006 at 2:54 PMI "should watch where [I] point my fingers", huh?
What are you gonna do? Hold a secret meeting and try to get me kicked off this blog?
Posted by Not Impressed on Mon., Dec 18, 2006 at 3:26 PMIf you are not impressed with Ms. Starr, then does that mean you ARE impressed with a Committeman who, along with his wife, gives money to Republicans? Or how about, is appointed to the city health board, yet worked as a lobbyist AGAINST the tobacco tax?
Posted by Sixth Ward Voter on Mon., Dec 18, 2006 at 3:42 PMHow can you hold an executive meeting without inviting your VP? Sounds like Patrick may be a bit nervous about something!!!
