Montee means business

Saturday's rally at the Pageant was, obviously, President Clinton's show. The man is a one-man campaign machine when he turns it on.

Yet one up-and-coming Democrat, Buchanan County Auditor Susan Montee showed that she's got some skills.

Montee, who is running for Missouri State Auditor against Republican Sandra Thomas, gave a rousing stump speech–granted the other speakers aren't in the midst of a hotly contested race. She poured it on.

Up until recently she hasn't been widely known in the St. Louis area, but that won't likely last long. She is certainly determined to leaver her mark.

I have to agree with you, I was very impressed with her.

glad to hear it. I have been a little worried about her, but then again Thomas seems to be handing her the office.

After Charlie Dooley, State Auditor candidate Susan Montee made the most energetic and rousing speech. The crowd was in-tune with her message.

Tossed a coin on whether to insert here or previous discussion. Oracle's Progressive Party State Auditor candidate, according to the candidate's website, seems to think that the state auditor has something to do with energy audits. When did the state auditor secure the statutory authority and funding/staffing to perform energy audits on state agencies?

Outside of the comments about Claire; the speech sucked.

Susan Montee addressed the audience as though she were a storybook teller reading Hansel & Gretel to a group of 2nd graders.

Once again the Democratic Party is serving Missourians another candidate while feeding us the rhetoric of...better take one of us instead of one of those (meaning Republicans).

I guess we have to just take what we can get--and keep what we can hold.

Maybe I need to talk to the Oracle about the Progressive Party.

Someone please talk to Susan Montee about campaigning and appropriate dress.

After all...Niaknows real women NEVER wear white shoes after Labor Day.

Jeez, who would believe it? I agree with Nia, sort of. Montee did speak to the crowd like we were little kids. She just didn't seem very comfortable up there, and she flubbed her closing line. Carnahan was terrible, too. I can only imagine he was put up there to make Montee look good by comparison.

Claire, on the other hand, was quite impressive.

I should also say, in all fairness, that 90% of politicians are actually terrible public speakers. It's counterintuitive, I know, but it's true.
