McCaskill Throws Out First Pitch in Home Opener

The City Democrats opened their new office in the Market Place Mall on Manchester last evening, which will temporarily serve as the nerve center for McCaskill's push in the St. Louis region.

McCaskill headlined the affair, delivering her battle cry amongst a crowd of volunteers and St. Louis democratic politicos.

Representative John Bowman (far right) is the Canvass Director for the McCaskill campaign here in St. Louis. On a side note, Gregg Daly has to be the best dressed politican in the history of St. Louis.

Lucas:

Mike McMillan must be tied with Gregg Daly (correct spelling) for the title of "Best Dressed."

I can't believe Ingrid Owens is running again in '08 after the distant third finish she had in the 74th this year.

How was turnout? Couldn't make it.

Turnout was goood with an interesting mix of elected officials, candidates, a few dem activists and volunteers. Claire gave some rousing remarks and spent a nice amount of time talking to everyone.

I spoke to Ingrid also and she said she is considering running again in 2008, but not sure which seat. As an underdog and first-time candidate in a 3-way primary, she had a respectable showing with 26% of the vote. After having the opportunity to meet all three candidates on election-day, she was definitely the strongest of the three. She also did a good job uniting a diverse group of people behind her. I hope she doesn’t become discouraged because we need more people like her running.

And why shouldn't Ingrid Owens run again in"08"? Everyone knew (knows) that without a doubt, Ingrid was the best qualified. If the truth be told Liz, some folks in the "KNOW" know that Ingrid still won, even though the numbers show that she lost. Some people can't be bought, and some can't be sold. Few in number, there remains a small group of honest, caring politicians in Saint Louis...

We'll this kills me, I voted for Steve Webb in '04 and '06. He was working with our community long before Ms. Owens reinvented herself to run for office. If you all would pay more attention and look at the numbers, you would know that the strongest in the field lost by 66 votes(Steve Webb). Ms Owens did just what Mr. George wanted her to do, split the black vote. Now I haven't seen Ms. Owens around since she was at my door telling me that I souldn't vote for Steve because he was from Texas, but I did see Mr. Webb at Brown Elementary having basketball practice with area youth. I guess he shouldn't be allowed to help our kids because he's from Texas.
