Except for Tyus in the 60th, the Post pretty well copied ACC in every contest in which ACC endorsed.

The ACC has the score in the 60th. Candidate Tyus just waited too long to get moving. Candidate Nasheed got the jump, and has kept up the momentum.

It is a newspaper's job to endorse whomever they believe to be the best candidate, not to endorse whom they believe will win. Sometimes they lose sight of that role.

"It is a newspaper's job"

No, it isn't. You're confusing newspapers with Consumer Reports.

Newspapers can -- and do -- endorse candidates for a variety of reasons, including their hope of influencing the outcome of the election.

But influencing the outcome of an election for the benefit of someone other than the best candidate isn't a newspaper's job. That's the job of the political consultant.

The impact of the Post's endorsement was, uh, blunted by the editorial position of its sister paper, Southwest City Journal, whose Wednesday edition endorses Derio Gambaro for his representation of "south side values." The editorial isn't posted yet on STLtoday, so I can't tell whether the North Side Journal did the same, or endorsed a north side candidate for her embrace of "north side values." I also wonder what ran in the South City Journal in Jeff Smith's neighborhood.

Smacks of patronizing the neighborhoods to me.

The South City Journal (generally, east of Kingshighway and north of Chippewa/Cherokee) and the South Side Journal (east of Kingshighway and south of Chippewa/Cherokee) both ran the Gambaro endorsement editorial.

The North Side Journal ran no endorsement in the 4th District race. Most of the articles you see in the North Side Journal are recycled either from the South city editions or the North County editions.
