Ever felt like swillin beer AND picking up trash? Me too!!

Anheuser Busch and Operation Brightside are teaming up to clean up the Riverfront on July 8th, from 8:30 to 1:15 pm.

This is from the release:

Volunteers will be provided with a Budweiser Green Team or SeaWorld Busch Gardens T-shirt, a hat, gloves, and life jackets (if going in a boat). Burgers, brats, hotdogs and beverages after the clean up, including A-B products for those 21 and older. Wear old shoes and clothes. Attendance prizes will be awarded. Participation is limited to the first 250 people, so please register early to ensure a spot for this important and rewarding event. Call Operation Brightside at 772-4646 for advance registration.

No doubt, people will be picking up a lot of AB's own product off the street, so this essentially completes the marketing circle of life. Product drank, product on street, product picked up, product drank agin. After sleeping off a midday buzz, someone is guranteed to have a dream about AB after seeing one of their product logos approximately 2,785 times in one day.

But, picking up trash is important, and this is a good cause which I do support. Nothing says "Deblight" (Blight and Decay) like heaps of trash, so if the City is going to continue to come back, the trash has got to go as well.

It's sad that people these days, particularly young people, have to be bribed or rewarded into volunteerism.
