Posted by Nia on Tue., Jun 13, 2006 at 9:09 PMRep. Amber “Holly” Boykins continues to ‘rake’ in endorsements… Experienced Leadership You Can Trust
Senator Maida Coleman, Senate Minority Leader (D-5)
Senator Rita Days, Senate Caucus Secretary (D-14)
Senator Yvonne Wilson (D-9)
Rep. Robin Wright-Jones, Minority Caucus Chair (D-63)
Rep. Juanita Head Walton, National Order of Legislator- President (D-81)
Alderwoman Bennice Jones-King (D-Ward 21)
12th Ward Democrats
15th Ward Democratic Organization
21st Ward Organization – Honorable Arthur “Chink” Washington, Committeeman
18th Ward Democratic Organization – Honorable Jesse Todd, Committeeman
The Mighty 26th Ward Democratic Organization
Receiving endorsements from collegues demonstrates an elected officials' ability to work cooperatively with others outside of their community.
Interesting endorsement list.
The six individual African American woman officeholders: none of whom live in the district or can vote in this election.
12th Ward Democrats: Only one precinct (the ward's smallest with only about 500 registered voters) is in the district. It's a lily-white Catholic area where Amber will be lucky to come in third.
15th Ward organization: The committee people but no members. A separate 15th ward organization with actual members has endorsed Jeff Smith.
21st Ward - Washington. That's half an organization. Committeewoman Myrtle French isn't on board.
18th Ward - Todd. But his alderman, Terry Kennedy, has backed El-Amin.
Mighty 26th: Ditto. Alderman Williamson is backing El-Amin.

If you read the end of my comments I clearly stated, "receiving endorsements from collegues demonstrates an elected officials' ability to work cooperatively with others outside of their community."
State Senators as well as House Members have to work with others in order pass legislation and push important bills out of committee before the proposed legislation can be voted on to become law. A lot of significant legislative 'pieces' never even make it out of its assigned committee. A legislator who works well with others increases the likelihood of sponsoring quality proposed legislation that will be voted into law.
Myrtle French who by the way is a friend of mine is in the hospital. That does not make the 21st Ward 1/2 a ward; but, oops excuse me according to your founding fathers African Americans are only 3/5's of a person. So I guess you are just acting in character.
However, I'm requesting that you not make anymore references to the 21st Ward as it relates to the Committeewoman.
If this is the type of insensitive support that Jeff Smith has he should not be in a position to represent such a diverse district.
On the other hand, Rep. Amber "Holly" Boykins believes that everyone is important; and every vote counts. She is not exclusive; she's inclusive.
p.s. Aldermen do not make ward endorsements Committee people do; and, most of them are very good at what they do.
Reality check: Committee people do not receive a salary, nor do they receive any form of benefits or stipends for the hard work they do in their respective areas.
Why are you so hostile anyway? Just support the candidate that you support. Let's not even go there--anymore--okay.
Check the facts...after all Niaknows
Posted by Nia on Wed., Jun 14, 2006 at 3:48 PMThank you Nia for your comments. This is my first review of this blog in about 5 or 6 weeks because I detest the simple mindedresponses. As I read you initial posting and saw the typos, my thought was that this person must have been typing very fast and her fingers missed some of the letters. Only a person with destruction in mind as the time to talk about someone's typos.
And about the Oracle's post. You're right, the politicans listed cannot vote for Amber Boykins because as you've stated, they don't live in her district. News flash! Just what do you think endorsements from other legislators mean and why they're sought after? It's because they can give Representative Boykins contributions, make calls on her behalf, raise dollars for her, knock on doors with her, etc. So as you can see, endorsements count.
It seems that this blog thrives off of insults. What can't you haters just appreciate that we live in a free society where anyone who qualifies has the right to seek office. Let's enjoy and encourage the process. Not always be negative.
Posted by carolyn on Thu., Jun 15, 2006 at 12:50 PMBoykins doesnt have a chance in hell, I still dont understand how anyone in her district can support her, she hasnt made any moves to address that crack how next door to her office since she's been in office!!! So what would she really do for our community. Secondly most people dont trust politicains, so who cares which one of those idiots endores the other? Their just playing politic games.

Rep. Amber "Holly" Boykins does it again!!!
Nia was definitely on the scene.
AFT/Local 420 Endorsed Rep. Amber "Holly" Boykins for State Senate in the 4th Senatorial District.
"Rep. Boykins walks gracefully and votes loudly", said Andre Lee safety officer with the St. Louis Public Schools and Local 420 member. He further stated, "some politicians tell us what they think we want to hear; and go to Jeff City and do the total opposite. We know that the St. Louis Public Schools is in trouble; but with elected officials like Representative Boykins fighting for us--we will see some change."

Niaknows,
If you make a claim about the effectiveness of a state rep. getting bills out of committee you should probably use bills that get out of committee.
1 out of 8 of the bills you mentioned was passed out of committee. Not bad, but defiantly not backing up you statement in the previous post.
It looks like you are getting "earned media" for Amber, but doing a poor job.
I suggest that you make a rough draft next time. Have a few people look it over. Then post it.
Oh and that comment by the oracle about the honorable “Chink” Washington being only half a committee was not a blast at Mrs. French (get well soon). It is the fact that they don’t agree on many endorsments
Check out this week's Metro Sentinel Newspaper. The St. Louis Argus did a decent job, too. That was not a picture from the Regional Chambers of Growth Association (RCGA), slightly misleading but it's okay.
Rep. Boykins, keep this going and you will be victorious!
1 out of 8, Not so Blossoming Turd. Furthermore, you cannot speak for anyone but yourself.
I'm a person who calls it as I see it. I never looked at what I was doing as 'earned media'. Thanks for the compliment though and the advice; I always want to improve.
To the constituents of the 15th Ward who showed up to the Community Development Forum...KUDOS TO YOU!!! You demonstrated through your presence that you are 'real people' in the 15th Ward.
"WORKING TOGETHER WORKS WELL!!!"
