Thank God the Southside National Bank Building (Grand and Gravois) was saved. The thought of more Walgreens progeny assimilating that lamdmark like the Borg is enough to induce acid reflux. Besides Alderwoman Florida and Mayor Slay; Sue Geldmacher and Ruth Ehresman of the Grand and Gravois Coalition spoke, as well as Steve Smith of the Lawrence Group.
Here is the usually svelte Mayor Slay, a dedicatedly tan Alderwoman Florida and Steve Smith cutting the ribbon:

The total cost of redevelopment is 6.7 million dollars, and 13 condos are being constructed (12 standard and one penthouse). The first floor will house retail space, and a restaurant is likely to inhabit the second floor.
The standard condos are 1,119 square ft, and here is a glimpse of the main room

Here is a look at the kitchen:

View of downtown from the penthouse:

There is nothing more beautiful than what you see in that last picture--our city.

Posted by Marlissa on Sat., Jun 3, 2006 at 9:49 AMNeed an agent? Just kidding!
The model they had open for us was a 1 bed/1 bath, although it had an office also, and was listed right around $200k. Personally, I'd hold out for the penthouse for the 360 degree view and private roof-top deck.
You should be able to find full details either on the listing agents' web site (I don't recall who has them listed) or on realtor.com (the website for the National Association of REALTORs).
Posted by travis reems on Sun., Jun 4, 2006 at 12:51 AMI believe the penthouse sold the first day. From what I hear, 6 or so of the 13 units are already taken, so anyone interested should move fast.
