On the Suggs editorial:

I don't understand the relationship between immigration and the life sciences industry. Aren't there bigger issues, here in St. Louis especially, that requires the greater attention of our African-American leaders? Of course there is. The list is too long to write in this post.

This editorial is cryptic and baffling.

The editorial seems fairly clear. Although one could quibble that these are the most important issues, one can't deny that African Americans should be asking how they fit into the life science sector if St. Louis' business leadership has decided that it is a growth sector for our region and state. On the immigration issue, Dr. Suggs is positioning himself in opposition to other leaders on the national level who sided with groups opposed to guest worker and amnesty programs.

In general, the editorial fits well with Dr. Suggs' specific stance, which has tended to advocate for African American's economic success via participation in the local business economy and in such projects such as the new baseball stadium, airport expansion, and public infrastructure projects.

Well, I guess Odenwald won't be having any campaign events at Grant's Farm anytime soon....;-)
