It's a very good piece of work.

Wow, this is not good for Derio. His record would make him a much better fit for the Republican ticket.

Too bad filing ended yesterday.

Looks more like Derio is giving the Smith camp a little heartburn.

Looks like a good reason for Republicans in the city to take a Democratic ballot in the primary. Matt Blunt and his administration have even less use for city Republicans than city Democrats, so this might be a way to send state Republicans a message.
Derio is a Democrat, but he's at least a lot more appealing to those of us in the middle than Jeff Smith is, for example.

Anyone find it funny that Larry's identified "DINO" kind of looks like "The Dino" (Dean Martin)?

Gambaro is just the most obvious. The city Democrats in St. Louis -- just like those in other American cities outside of, say, NYC and LA -- have never really taken to liberalism. In 1997 and 2001, the Republicans fielded the most liberal candidates for Mayor.

Yet another thing holding our city back as a destination for young progressive people.

===Looks more like Derio is giving the Smith camp a little heartburn.

Actually you can thank the thread down below in which one of Derio's supporters tried to defend Derio's stand on gay rights---I did some quick searches for Derio's (abysmal) record on the issue and out popped Derio's fascination with tearing down the safety net.

If Derio's supporters weren't trying to paint him as moderate and then doing a whispering campaign with unions, I never would have thought to look.

Call it Karma.

What message is that? That we'll tear down the social safety net with them if they play nice?

I think that's generally been true, but we are seeing that change. Though if Chance is who you are saying was liberal, I'm not buying that. I like Mike, he's not liberal.

That said, even then, I don't know of any big city relatively conservative Dems who would work to tear down Social Security.

Derio? Near the middle? Whose middle? Pat Buchanan’s?

I’m surprised how people are trying to frame this as a Jeff v. Derio argument, when really this is an issue about Derio and Derio alone.

I believe I’m a centrist, very much in the middle, and Derio’s views frighten me.

What he is telling me is that if a woman is raped, she doesn’t deserve the right to an abortion.

What he is telling me is that even though my father worked his entire life, he doesn’t deserve retirement security.

What he is telling me is that equality for all is not an honorable goal.

On all of these issues, Derio loses to Yaphett, Amber, and Jeff. And I hope they are spreading the word. This record is abysmal beyond my worst fears.

LOL

If there is a question about which 4th District candidate holds a seat farthest out on the left wing, the answer is World Socialist Kenny Jones.

His SLBOA orations were gems.

By comparison, the other candidates are moderates of similar stripe.

Posted by publiceye on Thu., Mar 30, 2006 at 12:39 PM

I believe Kenny also wins the most entertaining candidate category as well.

And the winner of the Height-Challenged Candidate competition is...
