I'm pleased that Rep. Parker has decided to run for Congress. He is a much better alternative than right wing-nut Akin! I am a Democrat in the second district who will definitely cross over and vote for Sherman in the primary. Akin has go to go!!
Posted by George Rybarczyk on Fri., Mar 24, 2006 at 5:40 PMDude, she filed on the first day. What's that, you weren't talking about Judi Parker? Ohhhh....
Posted by Clark on Fri., Mar 24, 2006 at 6:12 PMGeorge said "Rep." Parker, as in state representative. It's the Parker who actually got elected to something.
But Akin will still win easily. The district is conservative (especially after Joyce Aboussie took every conservative Republican she could find and moved them out of the 3rd and into the 2nd in the 2001 redistricting), and Akin has a great ground game. If Big Money gangs up on him for Parker, it will actually enhance Akin's appeal with that electorate.

Posted by Clark on Fri., Mar 24, 2006 at 11:18 PMJudith Parker can still win this thing for the DEMS if she could get some money. Oracle is right, it will be a tough fight but you have to feel the 3rd electorate's uneasiness with being represented by such a far-right ideologue. If anyone has a chance to defeat Fak'in Aikin they must appeal to the moderates.
This race will be decided by the IND's and the Moderates.
Rob, the question is - will Akin tack toward the center to undercut Parker, or will he feed the base some red meat?
I agree that Judith Parker is the only Dem in this race who has a chance.
Posted by Clark on Sun., Mar 26, 2006 at 9:54 PMAkin has already moved to the base---he is the single most conservative Member of Congress according to the National Journal. The guy is the original wingnut.

Posted by ArchPundit on Mon., Mar 27, 2006 at 9:44 AMIndeed, the parts of the Southwest County municipality of Sunset Hills where both Joyce and Martie Aboussie now reside is located in the 2nd District.
I wonder whether they'll crossover and vote in the Republican primary, just for fun? Doubt it.
Also I wonder how they'd vote in the Sunset Hills mayoral and aldermanic races - establishment or anti-eminent domain? Hmmm.
