Geographers rule the world. :)

I would be most appreciative if someone would translate: "Prof. Baybeck's current research examines the intersection of political geography and individual behavior, particularly at the level of local government."

right on! now if they can just get Kolasa tenured as well, that department will be all right :)

Howard,

He makes cool maps that describe how people deal with local governments.

I think it possible to map how a local government deals with people. I do not think it possible to map how people deal with a local government.

Why Braybeck?

Isn't this how bread riots get started?

Maps showing spatial inequity by geopolitical subdivisions have revolutionized public policy analysis. Communication is constantly becoming more visual. With all politics being local and voters most interested in their own backyards, maps often trump any table or even pie-chart as means of visually framing a political argument.

Another translation needed please! David, provide a decoder! No wonder the common man feels alienated from the process, when the ivory tower insists on creating a new, inacessible language. Thanks for the reminder.

Eggheads.

Never, ever, ever use a pie-chart to explain anything.

Howard, political scientists have long looked at how political communication, attitudes, and behavior shapes the political process--Brady is essentially doing the same thing, but with cool maps to boot.

I would like to see a map showing people (number and where they live) who have pulled out their hair or been driven to drink because of their contact with local government.

Posted by Howard on Wed., Jan 25, 2006 at 10:40 AM

I'll see if I or Brady can put that together for you Howard...

Hopefully Brady can now come back to dart league...
