Standing in Line

Tipster says that... down at the Board of Elections:

Greg Daly has someone waiting in line for him - to file for Collector of Revenue.
And, Mike McMillan has someone waiting in line for him - to file for License Collector.

And Mariano Favazza has someone waiting in line to file for re-election.

UPDATE: Greg's mother is his place-holder. And he is running for Collector of Revenue.

Sometimes they do, or they are just good buddies

We're a very long way from the August primary, but I guess if you're challenging incumbents (Leggett) or it's an open race (with Daly's move), it pays to be first on the ballot.

It's probably going to be difficult to underbid somebody's mother. LOL

There's a rumor that Leggett won't run.

L Ron is retiring. Revenue Collector and License Collector will be open seat elections.

Daly's mother is very entertaining. There are people who would pay to sit in line with Estelle.

Well, if Favazza, Daly and McMillan each already have folks in line, that only leaves Carpenter. Anyone willing to take on the matriarch by getting in line this early?

"Anyone willing to take on the matriarch . . ."

Why?

Posted by publiceye on Thu., Jan 12, 2006 at 2:41 PM

I generally like our Recorder, especially more so than our Circuit Clerk. But technically, here is someone's chance if seeking top-ballot status. However, I do think any challenger to Carpenter would stand little chance and be forever blacklisted among the Central Committee camp for taking her on.

As such, Favazza would definitely be the easier incumbent to beat, even if not a northside challenger. Challenging the St. Gabe's Belt of Power only means you have to settle for a lower slot on the ballot. Yet anyone of halfway decent name recognition or left of St. Louis Hills could easily finance and win such a citywide campaign.

There is a more likely chance that Stacy Fergusan is going to spend the night and fix me biscuits from scratch in the morning.

It seems to me that the McMillian race may not actually happen. I understand that there's some work going on inside the Democratic Party to pull Coleman out of the Auditor's race and come run citywide in St. Louis. Certainly seems like the City would come out the winner if this could be accomplished. And, any knocks about her wouldn't matter much there when compared to issues in McMillian's life that he doesn't want to bring to light...........

The Coleman plan would explain Hizzoner's rather anemic endorsement of her statewide bid.

Why Reggie, there are many rumored bachelors in City politics, both elected and behind the scenes. Does someone's participation in politics mean their personal lives then must be greatly scrutinized? And if such rumors didn't matter at a lower office, why would they matter now for a higher office?

Its Gregg with 2g's

Good questions Brian. But McMillian should expect to be scrutinized as closely as any other BLACK PERSON who seeks higher office, like say, Maida Coleman. I look forward to Jake Wagman's next big story.
