Coleman's Quarter

Word on the street has the Coleman quarter looking weak - certainly in some part because of her late start. Still if the whisper number - around $30,000 - is true, her bid is in trouble.

That is not a good start but there is time and she didn't have as much personal money as her opponent.

If she doesn't do much better than $30K then she should focus her attention on her current job of Minority Leader. The Citizens of this state need Maida working to protect their interests from the Republican legislature.

Perhaps those who like Maida but are grousing about how little she has raised could donate to her campaign. You don't need an engraved invitation to do so:

Her response to the state of the state was terrible. What was the message? If her platform for auditor is to grow government she's in big trouble. People want the auditor to watch the books and tighten spending. Susan Montee is the only candidate in that field with that kind of experience.

I agree the speech was terrible. If that is the Senate leader for the Dems in MO, I am very proud not to be a part of that party.

Now that the R has chimed in...given the speech, the personal finance mess and no qualifications I think I will keep my money, sorry Oracle. I think Montee is becoming the clear choice.

What does Senator Coleman's speech as Minority Leader, speaking on behalf of the Democrats, have to do with her race as Auditor? Maybe an R has chimed in but I'd bet it's the McMontee campaign instead. If this was a campaign speech, Jack R, Eric's and Hutchee's comments would be an acceptable opinion but instead they present these comments here out of context. Save your complaints, playa hating and prejudices for her debate with Montee.

And about the money, I know that Senator Coleman's first fundraiser was on November 29th because I was there. Seems to me that ANYBODY who raised ANY MONEY during the three weeks before Christmas did a great thing. Imagine how difficult it must be to raise money during the holiday season, epecially with the democrats and Claire working against her. By the way, I'm a Dem and I thought Matt Blunt's speech was terrible. If this is the Governor of the Repubs, I am very proud not to be of that party......

Actually if you must know, I don't like any of the Dems at all, not montee, not coleman, not claire. I just think it is funny you have debates like these on the net for all the world to see. I agree with connie that Blunt did not give a good speech, but it was better by comparison. And please, please don't say I am part of any democrat campaign. I simply like to watch you all fight and air the laundry out in public.

I don't care what the R has to say.

As to the McMontee people here, Coleman could have delivered the greatest response ever and they would have criticized it. They sit here and whine that this is not a good platform for auditor. If she gave an auditor campaign speech, McMontees would be screaming from Hannibal to Joplin that she used this time to run for auditor instead of delivering a response for the whole party. With McMontees, she's damned no matter what she does.

As to her money, the onus is not on her to get money. It is on Montee. Coleman has the name rec. and will win extremely high percentages in the urban areas in the primary. Montee is the one who needs money to get her name out. Her vaunted $500K contribution was a loan from herself to her campaign. Will she ever break into that loaned money? I think not.
