His approval rating has not moved beyond the margin of error for months.

The significant number, movement beyond margin of error, is the undecideds which went down from 11%-4%. This is a trend: people heading from undecided toward disapproval. Can his approval rating go lower? Sure that is the way he is heading.

What totally baffles me? They are not doing anything policy or public relations wise to turn these numbers around.

Way back when, I worked for governor in Ohio, we sure utilitized many political/public gimmicks to bring his approval ratings up after we had to raise taxes in the first six months of the administration.

I think Jim gets at the basic problem for Blunt--his numbers are solidifying at a very low level and the longer they stay there, the harder they are to turn around.

The problem is that he has attacks on his right so he can't move to the center and he has promised to not raise taxes and the state is in bad fiscal shape.

IOW, there doesn't appear to be a winning strategy for him.

Oh, and did I mention Daddy is going to be taken down in the Abramoff scandal...
