Which is the day after the 24th Ward Alderman Election. Go Bill Waterhouse!

Does Bill like Derio? If he follows the rule of "my enemy's enemy is my friend," then maybe so.

What gives you the impression that Gambaro and Bauer are enemies? True, Gambaro defeated Bauer in re-election for the State Rep. seat in 1998. But in 2001, didn't Gambaro give Bauer money to run that nasty campaign against Comptroller Green? Is Gambaro's campaign finance report for that period in error?

Giving Bauer money over Green just shows that Gambaro wanted to remain aligned with the SW City Conservative-Dem establishment.

In the 16th, Kratky's ward organization endorsed Green over Bauer, but this overwhelmingly white ward still largely voted the race card or for the white a$$.

So for Derio, SW City racist voters who would vote for anyone white over a qualified black candidate are clearly his base in the upcoming battle for the 4th, even if Gambaro shares that base with a former opponent like Bauer.

Gambaro wasn't the only elected official cutting a check to Bauer for Comptroller. The committee's April 2001 report shows $500 from James F. Shrewsbury, county address, self-employed attorney and $100 from Villa for Alderman.

Derio's voter base in the upcoming election is hard line Pro-Lifers, parents who want taxdollars to send their kids to private schools, persons of Italian descent or married to same who will vote for an Italian candidate over any other candidate, and the people who have known him or members of his family forever and give him the old-school loyalty/personal relationship to the candidate/candidate's family vote.

An interesting ward endorsement of the 4th SS will be the 8th ward committee.

The 8th ward is actually Jeff's new address. However, committeeman Stelzer married into an Italian family, while committeewoman Jones has northside roots, factors going for the non-8th ward candidates in the 4th SS primary.

Isn't 8th Ward Independent Democratic Association an open ward organization where members vote on endorsements and control the money? October report showed $5980 on hand.

George Suggs, the former committeeman, still has his 8th Ward Democratic Association registered with MEC but has been filing limited activity reports. The only activity over past couple of years was making a donation to McCaskill and Cook last Fall.

8th Ward Alderman's Conway 2007 committee showed $4705 on hand in October report.
