4th Senate District

In case there was any doubt, Gambaro and El-Amin both have committees now.

Is that the same Derio Gambaro who ousted Tom Bauer from the Missouri House in 1998, then gave $200 to Bauer for Comptroller, per Gambaro's April 2001 report to MEC?

Derio's ward committee support is in the 23rd. His homebase of the 10th is unorganized, while leaders of the 24th and 16th dislike Gambaro. And with officers now having left the City, the SLPOA has lost even more influence with voters. In all, Southwest City doesn't operate like a machine, or vote according to endorsements, especially outside the 23rd.

It seems that Alderman Troupe has troubles at home. He introduced a bill (Board Bill 213), to make the entire 1st ward a Housing Conservation District. Apparently with no input, or public dialogue with ward residents. As the bill was heard in committtee on November 9, approx. 30 residents showed up expressing outrage at the lack of public notice/input, and the apparent absence of the Alderman since his election win. Yet there had been previous meetings with potential developers, which has caused some rumblings that this bill, and its rush pass the residents is being used as a back door tool to eminent domain. Stay tuned.

Housing Conservation Districts have nothing to do with eminent domain. It's a rather flimsy inspection process that really should be in place citywide, and enforced more consistently and accurately.

Now, if Troupe proposed a "blighting" ordinance for the entire ward, I'd be concerned. A redevelopment plan could include eminent domain.

But HCDs are about building maintenance, not about redevelopment. So, it sounds like somebody's barking up the wrong tree.

I'm in agreement, my point was that this is what happens when constituents aren't properly informed. If there is something well-intended by elected officials, in which could be articulated and substantiated in a forum that involves those it impacts, then there wouldn't arise these misconceptions. It only makes you look for answers, when elected officials don't provide a forum for questions. Thanks for weighing in.
