Easy solution: Hire another columnist. Two columns a week; and make them good.

Posted by publiceye on Tue., Nov 1, 2005 at 9:52 AMThe buy out was a huge blow to the Post's newsroom. The staff expected it, but it was larger than they expected. The largest ever, I believe.
St. Louisans have differing opinions of the Post, but either way, there is an enormous loss of institutional knowledge when veterans with 20+ years of experience are shown the door.
Perhaps Lee will use some of its, now roomier, bottom line to hire a few more columnists, maybe one of the veterans they are buying out? Certainly some of the editors have some stories that couldn't make it into a regular news piece.
