What are all the cameras on top of stoplights along the length of Kingshighway? Are they fakes? traffic monitoring? security?

At first I thought it was just security for BJC, but then I notice them on many of the stoplights from Chippewa past BJC.

Those cameras operate the traffic lights. When the camera sees a car siting at the light it sends a signal to a computer to change the light from red to green. The red light enforcment ordinance hasn't passed the board of aldermen yet. It should pass with no problem. It has 20 or so sponsors. This type of enforcement is good for public safety. Many of the people who run red lights and go uncaught can be ticketed. Hopefully, it will slow those drivers down and make the streets a little safer for those who don't run the lights.

The proposed traffic cameras will only capture the license plate of the violator. If someone else is driving your car, you will get a ticket in the mail. If your car is registered to someone else, that someone will get the ticket. Rumor has it that if you contest the ticket ("It wasn't me driving but my sister's neighbor's dentist's cousin who lives in Taiwan"), the ticket will be dropped. So much for public safety. This is all about revenue (for which I am in favor).

If you currently pay, say, 6 percent for the mortgage and can get a total refi at 6.5 percent, it might be a much better deal than keeping a small balance first mortgage at 6 percent and getting a second loan at a much higher interest rate. refinance rate http://hr.nau.edu/jobs/docs/Louisiana-Mortage-Rates.html
