No St. Louis City on Talent Map

Go to this website on Talent's site where you can pick your county and - in theory - read about your county's happenings. Um... nowhere on that page can you click or select St. Louis City. Should we read something into that???

I sent an email to Talent's office complaining about this months ago.

No one ever responded.

I suppose they assume St. Louis City and St. Louis County have the exact same kinds of concerns/issues. On their map, it looks like the City/County boundary was (poorly) Photoshopped out.

Also, note that his "St. Louis Office" is located at CityPlace in Creve Coeur.

Obviously this means we can count on Sen. Talent to be a strong proponent of city-county merger, then. Right?

Fantastic! Talent supports a city-county merger, which means all the cities/towns in St. Louis County give up their independent incorporation status and together with all the unincorporated areas of St. Louis County become a part of one big St. Louis City that is also a county. This is exciting news!

Business as usual. Why should St Louis City residents expect anything different? Afterall, according to Jim's friend Matt Blunt, St. Louis is one of those cities where no one wants to live.

Is it a merger of the city and county, or rather the city rejoining the county as a member city and peer of the current cities in the county?

Calm down folks, there is indeed a separate page for the city. If you move the mouse over to the right, almost into Illinois, and watch the status bar at the bottom of your browser you can see that it has a city link. The map is poorly drawn, but the link is there.

Although the page title is "St. Louis City County" it's a different page than the county. It looks like they are just using a template that slaps "county" on the end of everything.

Put away the tin foil hats, they aren't needed today.

Damn, the link got cut off. The one above is the county, this one is the city: http://talent.senate.gov/MyCounty/showCounty.cfm?county=St.%20Louis%20City

St. Louis City voting to give up being a county and reenter St. Louis County and St. Louis County voting to accept St. Louis City as a municipality is called annexation, not merger.

Ok, I stand corrected on the map. But the hotspot is VERY poorly placed, pretty much in Illinois.

It's kind of a pointless section of their site, this "My County" feature, since it looks like all the news is pretty much the same everywhere. They want it to appear customized, but it isn't.

And the resolution on that map graphic is atrocious.
