Not too long ago the small theater venue was abandoned in favor of the volume-maximizing multiplex, but the Moolah Theater and the Chase Park Cinema have already shown that a bit of creativity can lead to success.

I haven't seen any numbers, but I would venture to guess that local theaters (Tivoli, Chase, Moolah and the High-Point) have been bucking the low attendance trend that has been dragging on major studios and theater chains. Not that they generate huge numbers either, but manage to succeed by offering just that extra bit more that brings people out to the theater.

I have talked to several people who have said they are likely to go see a film at the Moolah, regardless of what movie they are showing.
