Jeff Smith has received his PhD in Political Science with Washington University.
congrats to jeff!
Posted by Ben on Mon., Jul 18, 2005 at 3:29 PMToo bad he's not running in the 3rd again, that PhD would've played well in JeffCo.
Posted by Mark on Mon., Jul 18, 2005 at 9:57 PMJeff Smith finishes his PhD, teaches classes at an Ivy League School and from half the country away outraises Rachel Storch 6 to 1. Rachel has no other job besides State Rep and the House was out of seesion and she still could not raise more than $7,000.00. As I said earlier, she does not have the game to stay with Jeff. I ask all of her supporters who want to keep a progressive in the Missouri House, to call her and tell her not to run. If she stays in I can assure you that the next quarter will show her even further behind.
Posted by Steve Brown on Tue., Jul 19, 2005 at 8:30 PMSteve, if Dr. Oneraceoneloss is so great then how come he lost his ONLY RACE!?
Seriously, you need to put the bong down and accept reality.
Posted by Peter on Tue., Jul 26, 2005 at 1:54 PMSteve should put the bong down and accept reality? The only reality I see is that after not even two weeks of raising money, Smith is already up over Storch by a ratio of 6 to 1. Granted, Jeff needs to have another great quarter and Rachel could certainly have a strong showing come October 15. But, 6:1 is the reality right now.
Posted by Jason on Tue., Jul 26, 2005 at 4:29 PMPut the bong down? Ummmm...anyone who knows Steve knows he only chooses socially acceptable inebriates like Beer. While I like giving Steve hell now and then, he was Nixon's campaign manager and previously worked for the AG's office. To suggest he is some bong smoking kid is a bit bizarre.
Posted by ArchPundit on Tue., Jul 26, 2005 at 4:44 PMSo is ArchPundit accusing Steve Brown of drinking on the job?
Unlike Mr. Pundit I do not think Mr. Brown has a drinking problem and I do not condemn people for experimenting with grass.
I still am not convinced by the good Doctor.
Instead of folks attacking Rachel they should try to sell the Doc to folks...maybe tell us what he can bring to the Office.
And please do not say "he'll bring change."
Posted by Peter on Tue., Jul 26, 2005 at 5:50 PM==So is ArchPundit accusing Steve Brown of drinking on the job?
No, I'm not and that's clear to anyone who can read. What I did say was that accusing Steve of being a pothead is out of line.
And if you have a criticism of Steve's statement, don't address it as folks, address it as Steve.
Posted by ArchPundit on Wed., Jul 27, 2005 at 10:48 AMSo ArchPundit doesn't have much of a sense of humor.
Could this be yet another reason we are losing to the right wingers?
I don't think "folks" (not Steve) want to be associated with a party that is always angry.
Lighten up Mr. Pundit, life's too short.
Posted by Peter on Wed., Jul 27, 2005 at 12:02 PM===Steve, if Dr. Oneraceoneloss is so great then how come he lost his ONLY RACE!?

I need to lighten up? LOL Pot kettle issues.
Posted by ArchPundit on Wed., Jul 27, 2005 at 5:15 PMAs is often the case, Arch Pundit is correct. But for the record. After golf it is about 15-17 bud lights. At dinner, it is usually two Bombay Saphire martinis and as much Cabernet as I can slug down without my wife getting on my case. Also for the record, I am very much in touch with reality and I can assure you that Jeff will win this race and if Rachel stays in it will end her career. Finally for the record, I like Rachel, even though her actions indicate the feelings are not mutual. I want her to get out of this race, stay in the House, help us win it back and then go on to statewide office. All of which I would gladly support her for.
Posted by Steve Brown on Wed., Jul 27, 2005 at 6:48 PMOK, so we all now know that Steve believes the ol Pundit to be infallable and that's just fine with me. The fact does remain that Archy has no sense of humor. I have no pot or kettle issues. (Funny that you felt inclined to use the word "pot") Anyway, I know everyone here seems to know everything about politics but I am new to St. Louis and I admit I do not know squat about it. I have asked for people to sell me on the Professor but NO ONE has even tried. I will support him if some one could ever give me a reason why I should vote for him. No one has ever told me why he is more qualified than Rachel. (And if you say "money" then you negate all that Gov. Dean was trying to prove...people power not financial). I have seen what Rachel is made of and to be honest it is a lot more impressive than what I have seen from Jeff. I met Jeff and to be honest he is one of the nicest guys, I don't dispute his likability. But I just can't feel comfortable with him representing me and my family.
Once again, I beg Mr. SenseOhumor (Pundit)or anyone else, will you please try and tell us political dummies why we should support the Professor?
