Great quarter, considering he declared his intentions not so long ago. Any word on Rachel's report? The MEC's site says that it hasn't even been received!

She probably mailed it--Jeff did actually. It just has to be postmarked the 15th.

Hopefully when Rachel's numbers come in we can just unite around the individual who raised more money and stop all this bickering. I believe that this solution makes the most sense.

We need a strong progressive representing the district.

theres some good questions out there about this race

Will Jean Carnahan enter this race as well on Rachel's behalf?

Will Fred K. prevail with such a split progressive/libral vote?

Is Yaphet in this race to stay or will she possibly pass for Boykins, and if so doesn't that change the makeup radically?

Jeff seems to be going strong-- frankly, exactly what I expected from him. He's got a cadre of fanatics that are bar-none great field people, and is quickly raising the cashola. but its far from over, and the other candidates could all raise a very good amount as well. i'm definatly watching closely.

When did Jeff announce, just a few days before the end of the quarter right? If he put together 40K in a few days, that does not bode well for Rachel, especialy since there is probably significant overlap b/w their donors. My guess is she comes to her senses before other people start laying groundwork in the 64th.

Speaking of the Ethics Commission web site, it appears that Jeff did not have his campaign committe established until July 5...which begs the question, exactly what figure is he reporting?

All you "crack pundits" need to relax. Both Jeff and Rachel have the capacity to raise all the money they need for a State Senate race. Two weeks of an early fundraising quarter reveal little if anything about a candidate' strength.

Here's the relevant law:

To register the committee files a Statement of Committee Organization (form MO 300-1308). The Statement of Committee Organization forms may be obtained from the Missouri Ethics Commission or from any local election authority. The treasurer acting on behalf of a committee shall file a statement of organization with the appropriate officer within 20 days after the person or committee becomes a committee but no later than the deadline for the committee’s first disclosure report required pursuant to Section 130.046 RSMo.

You'll notice that it was received July 5th as well so it took the Ethics Commission about 7 days to scan it.
