Clay raised $30,145, has $174,237 cash on hand.
Akin raised $199,359, has $429,312 cash on hand.
Can't find a committee for Sherman Parker yet. I've spoken to people who were at a fundraiser a couple of weeks ago for him. I wonder who those checks were payable to?
Meanwhile, in StL CC 5th, Zimmerman's quarter has been received, but not scanned yet. I hear he came in around $89,000.
I don't think reports are due until midnight tonight, so Sherman can still file in plenty of time, and if the committee is exploratory, you don't have to file until it goes beyond the "exploritory" stage.
Posted by stlguy on Fri., Jul 15, 2005 at 11:43 AMExactly, explatories only have to report once they announce and then everything has to be reported from the exploratory period and the limits still apply.
Posted by ArchPundit on Fri., Jul 15, 2005 at 12:10 PMAny word on the potential challenger to Akin?
Posted by Max Baer, Sr. on Fri., Jul 15, 2005 at 3:26 PMThat's Parker...or possibly Bill Corrigan, but again, they may not need to file today.
Posted by stlguy on Fri., Jul 15, 2005 at 3:45 PMNotwithstanding Hot Potato, I would expect Bill Corrigan to file as a Democrat and challenge Akin in the general, not take him on in the Republican primary.
Prior posts about filing due dates for challengers are correct. An exploratory committee for a federal candidate has no filing obligations until the candidate takes some action to declare her/his candidacy, and if that never happens, nothing has to be filed. Even after a candidate declares candidacy (even files for the office), there is no filing responsibility until the committee raises or spends I think $1k (maybe even $5k).

Posted by St Louis Oracle on Fri., Jul 15, 2005 at 4:35 PMShe's got $18000 raised and about $24,000 on hand.
Posted by ArchPundit on Fri., Jul 15, 2005 at 4:54 PMCorrigan is being courted by Repubs, not Dems. If he runs, it will be as an R, not a D....from a VERY good source.
