St. Louis Pizza Haus is the newest addition to the University City Loop at 6602 Delmar Boulevard.
Have they created a new German style pizza? Bratwurst instead of salsiccia? Boiled cabbage instead of bell pepper?
Who could imagine the words "pizza" and "haus" in the same name? Is this the latest expression in "fusion" dining?
If they offer beer, then the whole thing just might work, tying together German and pizza traditions...
Too bad there aren't many choices in actual German restaurants anymore...but for those looking for a fix, you can make your own German meal with a stop at G and W Bavaraian Sausage Company on Parker off of Kingshighway.

Posted by rick on Wed., Jun 29, 2005 at 1:18 PMWhat about that new place on Chouteau and 18th - St Louis Gast Haus? It's supposed to be pretty good, although a little pricey. I think the Feasting Fox has some German food, too.
It's too bad Bevo Mill isn't open on a regular basis anymore, though.
Posted by Joe Frank on Fri., Jul 1, 2005 at 5:12 PMRemember Eisele's Black Forest on Cherokee and the Bavarian Inn on Arsenal? The Bavarian Inn used to offer a steamed/grilled sausage plate appetizer, with 3 or 4 varieties of German sausage served sliced up into 1/2 -1 inch sections, with sweet onions and German style mustard.
Over on Lindbergh, Schneithorst was a decent place. Are they still open since the remodel?

I actually went to St. Louis Pizza Haus the other day and what a pizza! I had the Garden pizza and my friend had the Supremo. It was so good! The restaurant is cool looking too. I'm so glad we have a new pizza restaurant in the loop. We needed something new.
