Carnahan hires Womer

CORRECTION: Embree still on the job; Womer consulting.

From an email tipster:

Robin Carnahan has just hired on Mark Womer to be her finance director. This indicates to me that she is gearing up for another campaign run...perhaps for governor? Mark was Robin's finance director for her Sec. of State campaign, and prior to that served as deputy finance director for Virginia Governor Warner's successful campaign.

Dave,
Did I get fired?

Actually I believe Womer has been hired as a consultant, not as finance director.

Uh, Tim, we've been meaning to tell you something...

Marines -- do all the hard work, don't get the credit.

ACC doesn't support our troops?

I demand an apology!

All joking aside, Womer knows how to raise money. Robin must be gearing up for something. I guess the big question is what.

I believe Womer and Robin have been discussing continuing his work for her in a consultant capacity ever since the election, so people shouldn't read too much into it.

Look for Robin to stay put for at least another 5 years. She's doing a great job and has a bright, bright future.

Statement Issued

We Need the Shining Star of the Democratic Party as our next U.S.
Senator. Paperwork has been mailed to the Federal Election
Commission, (FEC FORM 1 STATEMENT OF ORGANIZATON), to form a non-
connected committee called Draft Robin Carnahan US Senate 06.

Robin Carnahan ran a positive, honest, and honorable campaign
and won secretary of state. U.S. Senator Jim Talent only won over
Jean Carnahan by 20,000 votes. Most incumbents are most vulnerable
the second time because they have not built up a large base of
constituents whom have had had direct contact. Also, Mr. Talent has
only served one half of a term.

Historically the party out of power picks up house and senate
seats on the national level. Many democrats are tired of seeing
democrat state office holders run for U.S. Senate seats and loose
their state elected positions. Even if Carnahan lost she would still
be secretary of state. She would likely have the fire in the belly
to send Mr. Talent packing. We ask people to write or call Robin and
tell her we need a rising star as our next United States Senator!

I was one of the Founders of the Statewide Movement to Draft Claire
McCaskill which was formed in February of 2003. I want to make it
crystal clear that all our members want Claire McCaskill to run for
Governor in 2008.

End of Statement---Steven Reed
