The source of the "What the hell is he doing in St. Louis?" quote was St Louis' own RFT. The SF Examiner merely quoted it (with attribution).

As usual, the Lou's own worst enemy is itself.

They might want him in SF but that doesn't mean he wants to leave. He has got a good thing going here.

It doesn't definitively mean he wants to leave, but in order to be a finalist, wouldn't he have had to apply or express some interest in the job?

Rollin's wife is from Ladue, I believe, so I'd be surprised if she'd want to move anytime soon. I could see him moving back to Canada in a few years, perhaps, but to San Francisco?

Then again, Slay may do a cabinet reshuffling this summer, so it would be an opportune time for Rollin to bow out.
