Examiner says he's on a short list.
From the Examiner:
"Rollin Stanley is a hot shot city planner -- which begs the question: What the hell is he doing in St. Louis?"
Ever since the late 'eighties with Jeffrey Leonard's "one flap down" routine, and Ozzie Smith cold-cocking one of the Giants' players, a lot of people in San Francisco have held a negative perception of St. Louis.

Posted by rick on Mon., Mar 7, 2005 at 11:38 AMYou mean, people in San Francisco are aware of St. Louis besides the Cardinals? That's surprising in itself.
At least we are civilized--the beer guys come to you in the stands.
Posted by ArchPundit on Mon., Mar 7, 2005 at 12:05 PMThe source of the "What the hell is he doing in St. Louis?" quote was St Louis' own RFT. The SF Examiner merely quoted it (with attribution).
As usual, the Lou's own worst enemy is itself.

Posted by Michael Allen on Mon., Mar 7, 2005 at 5:19 PMIt doesn't definitively mean he wants to leave, but in order to be a finalist, wouldn't he have had to apply or express some interest in the job?
Posted by St Louis Oracle on Mon., Mar 7, 2005 at 6:36 PMRollin's wife is from Ladue, I believe, so I'd be surprised if she'd want to move anytime soon. I could see him moving back to Canada in a few years, perhaps, but to San Francisco?
Then again, Slay may do a cabinet reshuffling this summer, so it would be an opportune time for Rollin to bow out.
