Why is the convent being demolished?

The quick answers: cost challenge (e.g., bringing up to code, reconfiguring space that was designed to house numerous female religious - i.e., spartan rooms needing only a single bed and chest of drawers).

space challenge: the parish is land locked and there still exists need for parking/playground space after new strucutures are built (i.e., school extension westward including new administrative area and gym).

functional challenge: consistent with first point. parish is desiring new gym, more meeting room space, storage space and specialized school lab space (science, computer, band) - not a building designed primarily for residential accomodations
