Mtu is a community activist who as an active participant in the JVL planning sessions--he is well known in the community by his large stature (he is physically a big man) and dreadlocks. He runs a community center close to the site of new Vashon High School which serves as a youth center and various other functions. His message probably will be that the ward's well publicized development has not benefitted neighborhood residents.

McMillan reportedly has known about the challenge for the last couple months and has is taking the campaign seriously--will campaign for a return to the seat and not be complacent like most incumbents.
