Adios Kerry

The word on the street is that the Kerry decided today to pull out of Missouri. Most of the 100 or so Kerry campaign workers will be gone by the end of the week. Many to Ohio and other swing states.

A well-placed Democratic Party operative calls the move "short-sighted particularly in light of the potential to develop a top-notch farm team of state-wide office-holders. I'm not sure if the national party is aware of how hard Missouri activists have worked to register new voters," referring to ACT's 120,000 newly registered voters.

If true, Democratic activists should get involved with ACT right away. ACT is running a statewide GOTV program for Dems up and down the ticket. Go to www.actforvictory.org to sign up.

I am not a convicted felon like George Soros and their voter registers.
Will ACT still want my help?

Yeah, that rich damn felon! Demonize the man who encourages our youth to vote! How dare he!

To dd -

Will ACT want YOUR help? I doubt it.

The Kerry-Edwards campaign in Missouri has far outpaced the Bush operation in terms of staff and voter identification. Now that Bush has pulled his ads off of TV, we are confident that we have a strong structure in place on the ground that will turn votes out on Election Day. We plan to put staff into Democratic races across the state and shift other resources around to level the playing field here in Missouri. The Field Offices are chuggin along. We're winning the ground war!

dd, cocaine posession and drunk driving are felonies, but appareantly they don't stop someone from being president...

I think the polls are misleading. There are huge numbers of people are planning to vote for Kerry but don't feel comfortable admitting it. Plus all of the 20 and 30-something people who aren't accounted for in the polls because they don't have old land line telephones.

The biggest problem with Soros is that he's singlehandedly trying gut McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform by taking an entrepreneurial approach to using the 527's. He's trying to buy an election, basically, just like any other billionaire. In 2008, the less-crafty billionaires will emulate him and there will be a free-for-all among 527 groups.

Soft money never goes away, but who would have thought that the new campaign finance reform laws would never amount to any restraint at all?

And who would have thought that the backers of campaign finance reform laws would now be eager to help Soros gut them?

Personally, I wish Georgie had bought a better candidate than John Kerry. But Soros is not interested in gutting the system that has made him very, very rich. He's basically a libertarian capitalist who believes in a limited welfare state with gun controls and some taxation (although not too stringent for billionaires like himself).

The best thing that I will say about Soros is that he has created a lot of jobs for young people that pay more than retail. That's better than most billionaires have done.

This is way beside the point, but I feel obligated to correct dd. Cocaine possession is always at least a class C felony in Missouri.
