Lowry to speak at CAM

Glenn Lowry, the Director of The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York, will give a free public lecture on Tuesday, September 14, in the Contemporary's performance space. Lowry became the sixth director of MoMA in 1995. He leads a staff of 550 people and directs an active program of exhibitions, acquisitions, and publications. MoMA is in the midst of the largest building project in its history. Designed by Yoshio Taniguchi, the new museum will open in midtown Manhattan on November 20, 2004, to coincide with its 75th anniversary. The 630,000 square-foot museum will cost $858 million to build. Lowry is currently the Chairman of the Smithsonian Council, and also serves on the advisory council of the Department of Art History and Archaeology at Columbia University. Although the lecture is free, tickets are required for admittance and may be picked-up at the Contemporary's front desk. Seating is limited. If you would like more information, please call 314.535.4660.
