To the mean-spirited posters who believe Jeff Smith is the rightful owner of all progressive voters and urged the principled Corey Mohn to withdraw: Please notice that Joe Frank, urbanist, went for Jo Ann Karll.

I need to post here, since Joe's own site doesn't allow readers to post comments.

Public administrator: While the office has no "salary," it's not uncompensated. The public administrator is entitled to statutory and court ordered fees from the estates administered (and some from public funds in civil commitment procedings). In a different era, Sorkis Webbe made enough from this office to buy a Las Vegas hotel.

Jo Ann Karll was a horrible candidate and she isn't progressive. Her stance on Holcim is as shameful as Russ'. Someone being pro-choice doesn't make them progressive automatically.

Corey's folks suggested last week that he would get 1,000 votes. I am willing to buy into that number, but the fact that he received 589 leads me to believe that nearly half of them decided that their voice was better heard by supporting a different candidate with a better chance of actually winning the nomination. I find it hard to call these people unprincipled or mean-spirited for doing so. I am also not sure what makes Corey principled in to the exclusion of other candidates. Corey is a bright guy with a lot to offer. He did not run a competitive election. I hardly blame his supporters for finding candidates that provide them the best chance to advance a progressive message.

One interesting fact is that Mike Evans received more votes (644) than Corey (589) even after he asked his supporters to turn out for Jeff.

Actually, I think that was a Jeff supporter who suggested Corey would get a thousand votes. That was my working assumption. In a media blitz like occurred, candidates who don't have a strong GOTV operation and media presence get largely forgotten.
