John McDonald is leaving Wash U for Johns Hopkins.
He cites MO legistators trying to limit research.
I wrote about this a while ago in the Business Journal.
An incredible loss for the city. We have already lost others and stand to loss more. This is why we have to elect legislators that will fight to make sure that stem cell research is allowed in Missouri. Remember to look at where your candidate stands on stem cell research before you vote on August 3rd.
Posted by Tom on Thu., Jul 29, 2004 at 9:41 AMThe same thing is true for the 3rd District race. Half of the candidates are pro-life and against stem cell research. The others support it. We need a strong advocate in DC to bring back NIH research money etc. into St. Louis.
Posted by Mitch on Thu., Jul 29, 2004 at 10:47 AMThis really is bad news for our town. Based on today's Post story it sounds like the legislative hand-wringing around stem cell research was not the only reason for Dr. McDonald's departure, but it sure didn't help. How else can we keep such rising stars in St. Louis? What will it take to bring him (and his colleagues) back?
