So Sylvester wants you to "Say it ain't so, Dave".

Can you blame him? He's looking for an organization of bright, enthusiastic leaders for this city. And today we're reading about the unraveling of one promising organization.

If Metropolis folds, what/who will fill the void?

If Metropolis does fold and there is a void to be filled, an organization (either existing or new) will step up to meet the needs of that void. Necessity is the mother of invention.

The organization as it is now is not as needed as it once was as evident by it's plunge in membership. Or that need is no longer being met by the organization.

I think it's easy to point blame at the current leadership (and they do bare some fault), but I think the organization as structured was obviously flawed in it's ability to be sustainable. I think the cliche that a candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long is appropriate. Not that is a bad thing. Maybe Metropolis is at the end of it's wick.

Just to clarfiy, I include myself in the blame for not recognizing the problems and finding solutions to them.

If somebody would write a history of the organization, it'd sure be a fun read. It's a perfect story of a grassroots movement that almost became a powerbroker and then faded away. It's a completely natural cycle and always an interesting phenomenon.
