over there on the left. enjoy.
Breaking news (in response to the cover story on Metropolis in the current issue)...in an e-mail sent to the Metropolist this evening, current MSTL president Christina Reid announced her resignation to join her boyfriend. The two are moving to northern California, where (according to her letter) her boyfriend hails from.
I think this makes the sixth resignation from the Steering Committee this term, and by far, it's the biggest.
Could this be the death knell for Metropolis? As a long-time supporter and member, I certainly hope not. But it's quite possible the writing may well be on the wall. On the other hand, maybe this could be the kick in the pants that MSTL badly needs.
Time, of course, will certainly tell.

As an aside, why knock neighborhood walking tours? Why knock anything that volunteers are doing...
It always baffled me how Metropolis has maintained such a strict aversion to setting goals and objectives. The mantra "the mission is the goal" turns out to be a convenient way for organization leadership to avoid any real accountability for accomplishing the mission.
By not setting any goals beyond its lofty stated mission, the so-called leadership of Metropolis wasn't really providing any leadership at all, especially when it off-loads the responsibility for generating projects to its "member-driven" structure.

Look at the calendar. 13 of the 22 events on the calendar are walking tours. (I'm not talking about the pub-crawl Walk.) Metropolis seems to be placing a bet that walking tours will bring young people back to the city.
